Welcome to Term 3 of the 2014-2015 school year!
Although the weather has been throwing us some curveballs, we’re going to forge ahead with our plans. For the Freshman English classes, this means diving into an exploration of satire! AP Literature students, you will become buddies with a potentially-insane, undeniably-discontent Danish prince by the name of Hamlet!
With more kooky weather on the horizon, we may be seeing some more days away from class. As such, please refer to the calendars on this site and email me any questions you may have!
There’s no more denyin’ it, no stavin’ it off, no chance of avoidin’ it — the indisputable truth is that 2014’s summer vacation is coming to a close. Fortunately, this means that the 2014-2015 school year is beginning! And while the start of a new year is always intriguing, this September is setting itself up to be especially exciting!
Oh, what’s worth getting excited for, you ask? Well, how about the fact that we’ve got a new principal at WHS? Or, maybe the BYOD initiative that allows for in-class tablet/device usage? I don’t know, perhaps the start of the fall sports season? The Wakefield Warrior Marching Band performing music from Frozen? The new mural in my room (see above)?
Don’t worry — if none of the aforementioned got you amped, there’ll be something for you in this new school year.
I hope you all enjoy the final day of summer vacation, and I look forward to seeing you on September 4th!
Where has the year gone?!
In case you didn’t realize, Term II ends this Friday! While the vast majority of the work for this quarter of the school year has already been submitted, there is still something worth working on this week. What’s that? You don’t know what you could possibly be preparing for? You’re pretty sure that this is just a coast week? Hrm.
How about Mid-Year Exams?
Rather than waiting until the night before, why not start doing some of the legwork now? Look through your materials and figure out which areas you’ll need to focus on in order to get the grade you want. For your benefit, I’ve even posted the Mid-Year Exam guides below!
The bell has rung! What’s that mean? Well, tonight it means that Back to School 2013 is officially underway! I’m excited to meet my students’ representatives, and look forward to sharing a bit about the events of the upcoming school year!
If this is your first time at the Digital Loft, take the opportunity to explore the class pages (with the tabs above) and the posts (listed below)!
As the first day of the 2013-2014 school year, September 4th marks the beginning of many new adventures! Whether you’re a freshman just finding your way around WHS, a junior with aspirations for the future, or one of the creative minds hoping to hone your writing skills, you can rest assured that you’ve got a full year ahead of you. Through the wonders of reading, writing, and critical analysis, we will learn much about works of literature, the world around us, and ourselves. Along the way, we are going to encounter many new ideas, face plenty of challenges, and bask in the glory of our successes.
Now if that ain’t a sales-pitch for English class, I don’t know what is!
I look forward to meeting all of you tomorrow!
